With the girls out of town this past week, I’ve been in full-blown unpacking mode. I managed to get all of the boxes unpacked in two days (boom!). Now, it is all about making this new house feel more like a home. And the first place to tackle is the living room.
I really want our living room to feel calm, natural, and decluttered. We have a really great old fireplace with this 70’s orange-brown tile that will play really well against copper, natural wood, and black elements. Some of the things from our old apartment will work really well, and there are a few things we still need to get, like a lamp! I’m also trying to be really purposeful and thoughtful about what I buy for the house. Aaron has been pressuring me to just buy a living room rug to keep the sound down for the neighbor downstairs, but for now a rug pad will just have to do. With every move we have purged so many belongings and it has made me so aware of how wasteful we are. So this time, I am going to wait to find the perfect rug and the perfect pieces of art to express who we really are and enjoy it for a lifetime.
