Hooray for Friday! It’s been the first week of Summer vacation for us and we haven’t slowed down for even a second. Summer in the city doesn’t last forever so we are taking full advantage. We are eating every meal outdoors, hitting up every splash pad in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and staying out every night until the sun goes down.
Today is an especially memorable day for our family. Two years ago on July 1st we packed up our whole house and got on a plane from San Francisco to NYC and I haven’t looked back, not even once. We spent the first few days here getting acquainted with our new neighborhood and then the night of the 4th we decided last minute to go see the fireworks. We jumped on the R train and got off in Brooklyn Heights. I remember Lilah was sleeping in the sling and Edith was on Aaron shoulders. There were so many people and you could feel the energy and the firework show was unlike any other I had seen before. I knew that night that we would be here for a really long time.
I do wish we had a backyard to BBQ in but our takeout Shake Shack and a view of the East River will do just fine. What are you guys up to for the holiday? Hope it is safe, fun, and spent with those you love!
