I am so excited to share the girl’s room with you guys today! I’ve been holding off on sharing because a few weeks ago I found out Domino Magazine was going to publish the room on their site, so be sure to head over there to see the full room tour! But of course, I also wanted to share a little more with you guys here. I hope you like it!
This apartment has taken us a lot longer to decorate than I had hoped. Between my father’s passing and things being tight financially, I have had to take my time and make smart purchases. I also tried to make the best use out of the things we already had from our last house despite the space being entirely different.
My vision for their room was a modern, colorful space that was playful and made the best use of their tiny 80 sq ft. room. The biggest challenge was definitely the storage space (or lack thereof!). I had to bring in a closet and find a way to fit two beds and plenty of toys. I put together a mood board for the space and I think I really stuck to it! It is so helpful to have a reference of what you have in mind for the finished product to guide you and keep you on track when designing a new project.
My favorite part of the room is their wallpaper from Chasing Paper. It was the first thing I chose for their room and really was the inspiration for the rest of the design. I love that it is graphic and bold but still a neutral so if I wanted to bring in other patterns or colors, it was going to work with a lot of things. The best part is it’s temporary and made with low-stick adhesive – a must since we rent this apartment. They offer so many great patterns and are pretty affordable compared to other wallpaper options out there. I have a few other patterns in mind for other spots in the house as well!
I also love any chance I get to work with my friend Shannon. Aside from being one of my best friends, she is an incredibly talented maker of organic children’s bedding line, Natti Natti. Made in Brooklyn, I feel so good knowing exactly where the bedding the keeps my girl’s cozy and warm at night comes from. So much love goes into all of her products and the designs are always a big hit with my girls. There’s nothing better than bubbles and rainbows for toddler girls, am I right? She also just started making twin sized bedding which will be great as the girls grow older.
