A few weeks ago, I decided to plan a trip to Charleston to visit my Mom in her new house by Saussy Burbank, because the girls had a few days off of school and Aaron was traveling back to the west coast on a solo vacation. October is one of the best months to visit Charleston because its not too hot, not too cold – the perfect weather for walking all over town. And despite Hurricane Matthew, we enjoyed really lovely weather and got to explore some of our favorite spots downtown. I promise you guys one of these days I’m going to put together a travel guide, but for now, here are a few pictures of our afternoon south of Broad Street…
It seems like these days I’m constantly trying to bribe Lilah not to run away from me. Edith never had a defiant streak quite like Lilah does so I feel like a first-time parent all over again – trying new “tricks” or “methods” to get her to listen. If anyone has tips for an extra stubborn toddler, pass them along!
There is so much beauty in this city. It doesn’t matter which way you look or point a camera, it is all spectacular. Charleston is also great because it does get four seasons but they are very mild, which is right up my alley! Fall may very well be my favorite time to visit. I miss seeing all of the blooming Crepe Myrtle trees, but the chill in the air made the perfect setting to walk around all day until we had blisters all over our feet and we crash into our beds at night.
I’ve said before, but nothing beats traveling with these two. They are such adventurous souls and I can’t wait to go and see the rest of the world with them by my side.
