Coney Island

coneyisland1Last Sunday we hopped on the F train and spent the day at Coney Island. Now, going to Coney Island during 4th of July weekend is not for the faint of heart, but we made it work and ended up having a really great time! I’d love to go back with the girls during the week and watch Edie ride on every kiddie ride a million times in a row.

The first ride we went on was the famous “Wonder Wheel”. I can tell I’m getting old because the ferris wheel freaks me out. I was holding on to Edie for dear life; she even told me to let go of her. Sorry Mom is a big scaredy cat honey!

coneyisland5You have to get a Nathan’s hot dog. Coney Island is home to Nathan’s Famous 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. The winner ate 62 this year!! I settled for half because I knew Smorgasburg was just up the street.

coneyisland12Thats right. Edie made me squeeze into the tiniest possible seat on the whole ride, but anything for that sweet girl!

coneyisland14This was Edith’s first time eating cotton candy. I’m not sure how we managed to go an entire 3 years without it but it was a huge hit. Personally, I’m not a fan. I was picking blue sticky sugar out of my hair for days : )

Aaron went home with Lilah to put her to bed early while Edith and I stayed behind to meet up with friends to catch a Brooklyn Cyclones game. The girls had so much fun and it was the perfect end to our long holiday weekend.
